I'd say it's a safe bet to keep using the Legacy Exporter version for now, as there's no real benefit to using the new one yet. Probably deprecate and remove the Legacy version in 2023, when hopefully, most of the functionality will have been restored. So if that's any indication, I expect the new Exporter will go through the same workflow - new version released in 2022 with the 'Legacy' version running alongside, and restoring functionality as the year passes. Then Techsmith brought back some functionality on and off through the year, and they are still adding stuff back to it, even in 2022. So we had to find the old 'Legacy' Camtasia recorder and use it (which was also included in the 2021 version). If things are going to go the same way they did with the new Camtasia Recorder tool, it was launched in Camtasia 2021, with a lot of missing functionality. I think you'll have to wait quite a while before the new exporter has all the functionality restored. I know it's a work-in-progress, and Techsmith have thankfully left the old exporter in (which is what I use anyway), so you can use it alongside the new one.Ĭamtasia 2022 has two exporter - the new one (limited functionality) and the old one (called Legacy) It's meant to replace the old one but it's missing a lot of functionality for nowĪmong the missing features are the smart player functionality, markers, audio export quality is limited at 192kbps for some reason, and the exporter doesn't remember the previous export location (great nuisance, if you ask me and other users). The new Exporter tool in Camtasia 2022 is quite limited. This year's victim is the Camtasia Export tool (the one that produces your final video with or without the Smart functionality). Techsmith released Camtasia 2022 earlier this year, and just like in 2021, they started deprecating some functionality.
